By deliberately engineering a sense of resignation, cynicism and disempowerment, the state manages to sow confusion, fear and doubt. Inundating the population with a heady mix of information and glitzy distraction in a conscious strategy of blurring the line between fiction and reality. Even openly repudiating the notion of objective truth in a sort of turbo-charged postmodernism. Based on the understanding that people prefer something which is convenient to believe in rather than the truth itself. A sort of hybrid of Huxley and Machiavelli. A sort of Fourth Way.
