Beach at Night

Artist Statement My artwork is a small portion of my photography series, “The Beach at Night”. I started this series for two reasons: to continue exploring the Jersey Shore beach area and to continue working with night photography. The concept behind this series was to explore areas that would normally be the most chaotic and high traffic on the boardwalk and capture them at a time when it's the most peaceful. Although this isn’t my first experience with night photography, this series is a way for me to expand on working with limited lighting conditions and composition. It is important to me that my photographs are both emotionally and visually appealing, since I want the photos to work both in a series and as individual pieces. I love the drama and allure that black and whites provide, which is why it is my preferred method of photography for this series.
