Documenting the subculture of New York Surfing from 2004 though present has been one of the most difficult and enjoyable experiences of my life. Swimming though pounding surfing with just a camera inside a protective case (waterhousing) as pounding surf rolls through and sideshore currents carry me down the beach while attempting to "line up" with a surfer riding a wave has been truly challenging. As the low pressure systems rock the New York transit system and put businesses to the test, the surfers are up at dawn shoveling themselves out to race down to the cold gray wave garden of New York's coastline.
