“The worst thing about this world is that we’ll eventually leave”, says grandfather Juan, who is very well known among his neighboors as "The Iron Man”. Juan, has never stoped working in the farmland, even after almost a century of tough labors. I believe he is a generation’s example of strong mentality, which could endure wars and famines. He is a living relic of the older Spain.
Since a decade ago, I’m trying to document my grandparent’s life through photography, hoping that their lifes won’t fade away, comprehending their mores, duties, and behavior, as well as their faces facing sickness and death.
For me photography has become a way of sharing time and knowledge with them, in a playful activity, deeply learning from one another.
These pictures are part of a series shows an entire decade of work in Caravaca de la Cruz, my hometown in the southeast of Spain, using mobile phones, a couple of reflex-cameras and an old FM2.
