Ghost Town

These images are a document of the changing face of Bristol’s creative heart, Stokes Croft. They were shot around the area as part of a project I have been working on for the last 6 months. In this time of political uncertainty, austerity and division, the shifting fortunes of Bristol’s creative heart feels both sad and poignant. This set documents locations of interest and cultural importance such as music venues and creative community hubs. Several of these locations will soon be flats, or are under very real and imminent threat from developers. This ‘Vibrant’ cultural quarter has become lucrative real estate and the cityscape is set to change dramatically in the coming months. The graffiti which adorns so many of Bristol’s buildings tells ephemeral stories of the cities colourful and turbulent life, it also exemplifies Bristol’s truly creative heart and the desire as humans to create and communicate.
