Ghosts

In my intentions the photos tell of people, I hope it is not too risky to enter the People category. Wandering alone among the houses, offices, shops of the little town of Gwalia in the west of Australia, I tried to bring out the life of a small community of adventurers now definitively disappeared. A story common to many towns in the world in those years. Gwalia was born in the late 1800s following the discovery of one of the main gold mines of the continent and was immediately abandoned when the mine closed in the early 60s. The aim is for the viewer to populate these shots with the miners, their families, the administrative staff, the traders. Absences that this place tries in every way to hold back and turn away from oblivion. Photos taken in the District of Leonora (WA), Gwalia Ghost Town at the beginning of the Great Central Rd during my 2016 solo journey on the most solitary roads in Western, South and Northern Australia.
