Winter Dippers
This project started in 2005 when I began capturing the cold water swimmers in Falmouth, UK. I had always admired their determination and ability to stick to their regular routines, come rain or shine. When I returned to the UK in 2016, I was happy to see so many of the swimmers from my original project still continuing their daily salt water ritual. I decided to capture another series of work, this time focusing more on their identities. Re-shooting the swimmers almost 15 years later (or in Margaret’s case 20 years), I believe cemented their passion and commitment, and is a perfect example of why age doesn’t need to be a barrier to participating in the things you love. You don't have to do them well, you just have to enjoy them. Many of the swimmers have now been participating in this daily routine for 20-30 years.
