These pictures were taken during a jorney in the Lower Zambesi Valley (Zambia) in 2014.
Landing in the Zambian capital Lusaka, through the towns of Kafue and Chirundu direction South you reach the Zambesi river.
On board of a boat wandering the majestic and quiet watercourse that marks the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, along its banks and on the flat islands covered by giant trees as baobab and acacia it is possible to meet at short distance many wild animals, in particular elephants and hippopotamuses. It is common to see big crocodiles swimming in the green waters of the river or catch the warmth of the sun in the grass on its shore. In the Lower Zambezi National Park it is possible to meet buffalo herds, antelopes, impalas and even lions.
Very impressive it is the number of birds, in particular at sunset, when the river becomes their kingdom.
Population of Zambia amounts to twelve million of people, almost 50 percent under the age of 15. They live mostly in towns, but in the
lower Zambezi region there are several small villages near plantations.
