Yemaya

This series is an immersive exploration of the Afroamerican culture from an outsider's perspective, one in awe of the magnificent characters that populate it. The work aims to capture moments in the lives of Afroamerican women as they find empowerment through their womanhood and roots. As Fyfya Woto says: Women have the power to shift realities and build a new world through their personal and generational convictions. Held together by divine vision, we are portals to many nations and a multitude of Gods. *Yemaya is the Yorùbá Orisha or Goddess of the living Ocean, considered the mother of all.
