Vertigo: "a subtype of dizziness in which a patient inappropriately experiences the perception of motion. There are three types of vertigo. The first is known as "objective", when the patient has the sensation that objects in the environment are moving. The second type of vertigo is known as "subjective", and refers to when the patient feels as if she/he is moving. The third type is known as "pseudo-vertigo", an intensive sensation of rotation inside the patient's head."
Oktoberfest is the world's largest funfair held annually in Munich. It is a 16-day festival that has been held since 1810 and runs from late September to the first weekend in October with more than 6 million people attending every year. During these days, the place where the festival is held becomes exceptionally hectic and crowded with people, noises and colours from all over the world. French anthropologist Marc Augé coined the expression "non-place", in order to define anthropological spaces of transience that do not hold enough significance for us to be regarded as real "places". When I visited this funfair, my first feeling was a sense of alienation, as if I had been thrown into one of these non-places. Then my attention was progressively driven on to very small but powerful details of deep authenticity that I could spot in the space of short instants. They provided me with a sort of anchor in the chaos that was whirling frantically and cheerfully around me.
