Don’t Shoot utilizes both color and black white and documents the Justice for All March in Washington, D.C. which was held on December 13, 2014, after the compelling response from the Ferguson, MO protests Powerful signage was the focal point of the majority of these images since they added a new dimension to the prevalent theme of injustice in which protesters were inspired by the calling, “We are here because we refuse to accept injustice.”
Frequent slogans such as “I can’t breathe,” “Black Lives Matter,” and “Hands Up…Don’t Shoot” were common chants. The closing image for this series entitled, Departure Discussion, is displayed with two women who are engaged in an intimate conversation before preparing to depart on the one of the many buses and a sign tucked under one woman’s arm reads, “All human beings deserve respect.”
