HOLE 2005 - 2010, selection
Project Hole has been developing since 2005 until 2010. During five years I was spotted and captured “holes” – architectonic vacant lots in the city; firstly it was in Bratislava, later in other cities (Budapest, Novi Sad ... ).
When capturing the places I was interested in the historical as well as sociological memory of the city’s place and the following transformation of its function. The cycle includes eight large-size photographs (200x150 cm), where I was focus in urban living space through the form of production and manipulation.
I look at the city as a place of estrangement, increasing population concentration, constant change, specific dynamics. I focused my camera on the developer darkness of the freshly “created” vacant lots, whose photogenic attraction has completely enchanted me. In the scenery of the city I was attracted by the deficit space – what misses, what disappeared temporarily; value of the emptiness, nothingness, not only semantic one, but also the purely visual.
Photographies are part of the collection of the City gallery in Nitra, Slovakia
