This photograph was taken at a particular point in Madagascar. We find ourselves at the edge of the forest where the Mikea live, a somewhat ghostly ethnic group of Masagascar in the South-West. It is said that it is the Malagasy who took refuge in the forest out of fear at the beginning of colonization and have remained there since then. There are villages, rather groups of houses, which are on the edge of this forest. The photo shows a group of children playing. The land is very barren due to lack of water all year round, except for rare rains. We nourish ourselves with juicy roots, full of mineral salts, called "babù", larvae taken from fallen baobabs, cassava. In general I try to photograph without the subject noticing. I love spontaneous portrait because in my opinion it is an almost unrepeatable and sometimes magical moment.
