Every culture has developed his own commuting method, different country with their own way to move, connect, get to work, traveling and exploring.
Shooting "Transports" is an open, on going project aim to describe developing and developed cultures around the globe.
Chapter two:
Filipino Jeepneys
There is a country where the street art is literally “on the street” and is moving.
The most common commuting way in the Philippines are the Jeepneys a sort of a limo open-jeep or van tuned and splashed with colours. Jeepneys are private, there isn’t a specific number or route so get lost, if you aren’t with locals, is quite normal.
Jeepney is without any doubt the Filipino national symbol everyone is painted in a different way with catholic myth, cartoons, Hollywood stars etc .etc.
This explosion of colours in a busy, chaotic city as Manila represent the Filipino style way of life, a mix of joy and fatalism (bahala na) where whatever happens, so be it!
