The objective of this series (2018) was to examine and explore the ways in which, creative people relate to their surroundings or location and have a personal reflection of who they are in it. To take portraits in a exipermental way and not knowing the final outcome of of each individual sitter, this really excites me. Any thing can happen but also has a symmetry in the aesthetic of the outcomes.
Each of those the people i have photographed chose there location they wanted to be and was encouraged to respond to thelocation in any manner they consider appropriate.
The series of portraits i have entered for the competition, are all people i know andare all artists and they all have really interesting backgrounds and personalitys. The only request was not to use any post production in any of the digital images i too.
In this this day and age, i have found people instant reponse when i have photographed them, is to say "can you photoshop to make me look better". So the shots where all taken in camera (digital), using lighting, coloured gels, reflective clear plastic, and various types of glassor other objects in the front of the lense giving a effect sometimes having no control or a very "DIY" approach on the visual outcomes. We live in a world now that we can total change the way we look and feel of any image taken in post production, in this series i wanted to make this process of taking a portrait in a more simplistic way.
