Submission

With my work I ask the question, “Does a photograph show the truth or is it a lie?” In one sense it freezes a moment in time that cannot be altered. Is this the truth? Yet, it captures only a small frame of the world surrounding the image. The photographer chooses how much of this world to reveal through the lens at a specific moment. Does this make a photograph a lie? I look for subjects that ask the viewer to consider this question. To construct a narrative for a photograph by reflecting on their own experiences. I urge them to draw their own conclusions. What is the story behind the photograph? What happened before or after? What is outside of the frame that may confirm or negate the viewer's conception of the image?
