On March 5, 2018, Louise Osbourne passed at 91years of age. Her passing may have been caused by old age, but personally I have my thoughts that it was the burden of a black woman’s exhaustion. Weakened from Oppression, fictitious family relationships, back breaking work days and the natural need to care for her family. Over the course of many years her body and soul became overwhelmed taking a toll on her mental and physical health. The admiral strength every African-American woman withholds in themselves dwindles. A time will come for them to rest in the arms of their almighty God.
Homestead represents her last moments as my great-grandmother. One of many black women who loss their strength after a life filled with achievement, struggle, love and hostility. As she transitioned from the life she once knew, to the life she prayed for she was at peace. Before you is Louise.
