About Saba Hasan
Saba Hasan has been working across diverse media like painting,photography,book installations, voice works and videos. She tries to capture the complexity of her world by channeling it through the enigmatic lens of poetic imageries.
Saba has been awarded the National Raza Award for painting 2005 and international fellowships in art and culture from Syracuse University, Ecole D’Arts Visuels, Switzerland, the French Cultural Ministry, Paris, the George Keyt Art Foundation, colombo and the Oscar Kokoschka Academy in Austria. Her work Song of a Departing Day was at the 2013 Venice Biennale in the Imago Mundi Collection.
Saba's video project called "haqeeqat/the truth/la verite" was nominated for the Celeste Art Prize 2014, Milan. Her soundscape “Walking in Hauz Khas” was in an international show mapping sound segments from 20 countries on Osso Radio, Portugal 2013. Saba's photograph, "walking in deer park" got honourable mention at the Moscow Photo Awards, 2014 and her solo of latest photographs and videos based on haiku was presented by the Japan Foundation at the Tension Okakura Gallery 2016 and she has given some artwork from this show for the UN world water campaign. Saba's sound walk along 83rd street, is a part of composer John Adam’s collective work at the Metropolitan Museum, New York 2016.
