About sara cucè

Sara Cucè is a London-based artist working primarily with analog photography and traditional darkroom printing. She works exclusively with black-and-white 35mm and 120mm film, creating hand-printed photographs that explore themes of identity, migration, belonging, memory, and the environment.

Graduated with a BA in Photography from London Metropolitan University (2017), Cucè developed a strong foundation in darkroom processes and photographic technique. Her interest in how art is presented and experienced led her to pursue an MA in Curating Art and Public Programmes (London South Bank University and Whitechapel Gallery, 2022). This curatorial background continues to inform her artistic practice, deepening her understanding of visual narratives and exhibition-making.

Alongside her artistic work, Cucè is a full-time registrar for a private art collection, where she engages with art handling, preservation, and logistics on a daily basis. She also accepts occasional photography commissions, particularly portrait and people-focused projects that align with her creative vision.

Drawn to the slow, meditative rhythm of analog photography, Cucè values the hands-on process of developing and printing in the darkroom. This deliberate pace allows her to reflect, remain present, and approach her subjects with renewed perspective and intention — qualities that shape both her artistic and personal growth.

Her work has been exhibited across the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. She is the winner of the Life Framer Award 2022, was named among the 100 GUP Fresh Eyes Photo Talents 2022, and was a finalist for the LensCulture HOME ’21 International Photo Prize, the Magnum Photography Awards, the Royal Photographic Society IPE 160, and Photography on a Postcard 2017.
