Born in 1993 in a town in the North-East of Italy, I grew up in a large family where religion and the value of solidarity were cornerstone. Therefore I recognise my first main ambition as a missionary of sorts, until in my earlier years I fell in love with the world of fashion. Here I discovered photography, which gradually took a social connotation, together with my growing understanding of its potential as a tool for engaged advocacy.
In 2013 I enrolled on a BA in Photojournalism and Documentary photography at the London College of Communication, which I successfully completed in 2016.
Between 2015 and 2016 I developed a project on the theme of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, while in September 2016 I started documenting the aftermath of the earthquake in central Italy, and the marks left on the natural landscape as well as the intimate one of local people.
I undertook an internship at Otium communication agency in Castelfranco Veneto, Treviso, working on projects of both socio-cultural and commercial interest. In autumn 2017 I will start an MA in Anthropology.
Between summer 2016 and spring 2017 extracts of my work on people on the move have been published by the British Journal of Photography and Positive magazine, besides being exhibited in the context of the Ian Parry Scholarship Award and the exhibition Bold for change promoted by Adam&eveDDB in London, and also during the annual conference of Common Action Forum in Madrid. As a collaborator with the Refugee Journalism Project, focused in supporting refugee journalists living in the UK, I documented its activities and developed a video for the final event Beyond Borders held at the London College of Communication in March 2017.
I am interested in exploring the human side of humanitarian emergencies, to shed light on injustices perpetuated against minorities, with a particular focus on topics related to women's conditions and perspectives around the world.
Life, nature, the urban pattern, human relations, big and small facts that unfold each other in the flux of History and my personal history, the self reflection and re-elaboration of all these elements urge and convey in my way of thinking and practising photography.
