Sonia Paulino was born of Dominican decent in Brooklyn, New York. She received her BFA from Florida International University in Miami, Florida and MFA from University of California, San Diego. Her photographs have been exhibited nationally and abroad, with various honors and awards including 3rd place for a People’s Choice Award at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, and Honorable Mention for The World-Wide Photography Gala Robert Cornelius Award for Portraiture.
Sonia currently calls New York City home again. There she absorbs limitless offerings of art and culture; influencing, informing, and honing her practice in documentary portrait photography.
