María Teresa Ponce (Quito, 1974), studied architecture at the University of Notre Dame (United States) and later got her Master’s in Photography from the School of visual Arts in New York.PONCE has participated in various national and international exhibitions, including: PHOTOESPANA, Bienal da Mercosul, La Bienal de La Habana, South Korea DAEGUPHOTO BIENNALE, Museo del Barrio (NY), New Langton Arts (San Francisco), Galería DPM (Guayaquil, Ecuador), Cuenca International Biennial (Cuenca, Ecuador) and Canal Isabel II (Madrid, Spain). Her work is part of several public and private collections, including the Museo del Barrio (NY), and the Museum of Latin American Art in Buenos Aires (Argentina). She taught full time at University of San Francisco Quito for 8 years and coordinated the Photo program. As of 2013 Ponce resides between Quito and San Pablo Lake in a project designed by her which combines architecture, nature and sustainability. The project today has its own ecosystem.
