Tim Mills is an artist and curator based in Birmingham, UK.
As an artist sometimes he makes photographs, he also reappropriates archive material, and facilitates others to have experiences with photography. Outcomes are often presented as public installations and interventions, with the aim of creating a dialogue between concept, content and place.
In 2021/22 he was one of six artists nationally to be comissioned by Historic England and Photoworks as photographer in residence for the Picturing High Streets Project, working with Grain Projects in Coventry.
He is currently Offsite Curator at Eastside Projects and, as part of the Birmingham 2022 Festival on the occasion of the 22nd Commonwealth Games, delivered four international artist commissions in the public realm working with Amy Ching-Yan Lam, Rajni Perera, Jon McCurley and Thenjiwe Niki Nkosi.
Previously he was Contemporary Art Curator at The Box Plymouth, where he delivered the inaugural exhibition 'Making It', working with artists Eva Grubinger, Alexandre da Cunha and Antony Gormley. He also developed projects and exhibitions with Jasleen Kaur, Katie Schwab, David Clarke, Maurizio Anzeri and George Shaw. As part of the Australia/UK Season 2021/22, he was project lead of 'Songlines: Tracking the Seven Sisters', an exhibition entirely conceived and curated by a team of First Australians, with The Box Plymouth as the only UK host venue.
