Tomás (Tom) Fernández is a Chilean journalist who works as a press photographer. He graduated from the University of Playa Ancha in 2009 and started working as a staff photographer at El Mercurio, the largest newspaper in Chile, shortly thereafter. From his extensive travels throughout North/South America and Europe, he realized that stories worth telling exist everywhere. Tom seeks to incorporate his personal vision when telling his stories photographically.
In his short career, he has been honored with the Regional Press Photo of the Year (2008, National Press Association) and the Picture of the Year Award (2011, Chilean Photo Journalist Association). Tom currently resides in Madrid, Spain, where he studies a master's degree in contemporary photography and speaks both English and Spanish.
