About Tomas
Tomas Predajna, born in Skalica (SK) in 1981, is fascinated by photography - whether realistic or abstract - since his childhood. He started with analogy photography, being inspired by his father. Tomas mainly relies on his instinct, intuition and creativity when searching for a great photo.
After finishing his studies, Tomas lived in Spain, France and Switzerland and travelled large part of Europe, Central and South America, Africa and India.
Tomas is attracted by destinies and stories of different people and their living standards. In addition, he is strongly moved by consequences of climate changes and other human - direct or indirect - consequences on landscape and nature more generally.
Since several years, Tomas works on long term project called “The Broken Giant” which monitors high speed of melting glaciers in Switzerland. The results of his works were awarded by Czech and Slovak Press Photo in 2020. His another series, “Burning Life in Dharia” or “Dharukana Ship Yard” from India, were exhibited at the Leica store in Zurich, Switzerland in 2018. The first named also won an award at 2018 Czech Press Photo.
His latest project called “The Nightfall of Czech Forests” deals with an impact of bark beetle outbreak in the Czech Republic.
