About Valerio Scassillo

I was born on the 5th of January, 1994 in Rome, the city in which I live.
After having studied at the Officine Fotografiche school, I found my calling in street photography: I love people’s faces.
I choose carefully the subjects: they are mostly old people, women and men, with many life experiences behind them; they have a story to tell, and that’s what I try to capture through my camera. I love to play with their expressions and I often try to establish an eye contact with them: I think that’s a way to create a special bond between the observer and the subject of the picture.
Artists such as Vivian Maier, Diane Arbus and Mary Ellen Mark have deeply influenced my work being a great source of inspiration and personal growth.
