About Whitney Welshimer

Whitney Welshimer, MPH (born in New York, New York, 1981) lives in Brooklyn, New York. Influenced by previous work experiences with several non-profit organizations in New York City that support initiatives around gun violence prevention and equitable access to health care and education, Whitney is particularly interested in using photography to raise awareness of social justice issues and inspire action.

In addition to social justice projects, Whitney photographs New Yorkers on the street as well as in places like Coney Island, Brighton Beach and on the subway where they are afforded a brief respite from the fast pace of the city. She uses street photography as a way to capture the “human condition” and the connections and experiences we share.
