Zeno Chen is first known by public as a poet whose poems are popular class materials in Taiwan’s primary education. With his facination in photography, he hopes to utilize the characteristics of light and shadow in photography to create abstract aethetics like oil paintings. Since then Zeno Chen stuided photography’s and painting’s techques at the same time, he applys painting’s touch and color to present photographed images.
Zeno Chen drew an idea from German artist, Gerhard Richter, who use painting to prove photography’s artistry. He proceeds with the opposite concept to take on the challenge of using photography as a medium to show painting’s artistry. By using photography’s realism, techniques and painting’s concepts, to escape the boundry of space, time, and location(each photo record time/space/location), to give viewers a brain new visual experience. Zeno Chen started his exhibition in top gallieries in Taiwan and had tour exhibition in Itlay and U.S..
