My name is Angela and I am an attorney, artist and the founder of Mint Purple Studio Ⓡ. I am an American Born Chinese and have always been intrigued by the issue of how diaspora, 2nd generation immigrants find their cultural identity, establish or forego certain cultural aspects of heritage ties to Greater China. I received a Bachelor and Master of Arts from Columbia and Harvard respectively in East Asian Studies with a concentration in anthropology as well as a Juris Doctorate from Duke University. I changed careers from practicing as a corporate attorney to running a professional portrait photography and design studio after years of taking intensive graphics design classes and photography workshops with master portrait photographers in my free time. The question of keeping close familial ties between families within Greater China and overseas Chinese diaspora weigh heavy on my heart and is an inspiration for my photography.
