Chino Otsuka uses photography and video to explore the fluid and distortable relationship between memory, time and photography. At age 10 she moved from Japan to the UK to attend school. Her experience of becoming familiar with a new place, a different language and new customs while she was developing her adolescent identity has profoundly shaped her work.
Otsuka’s work is internationally recognized and exhibited widely in Europe, North America and Asia. A solo show at Huis Marseille Museum for Photography, Amsterdam and The British Library. Group shows include The J. Paul Getty Museum, LACMA, Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, Art Gallery of Ontario and Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai.
Works are found in numerous international museum collections.
The series Imagine Finding Me has become Otsuka’s most exhibited work showing over 16 countries.
