Darcy Padilla is a photographer and lecturer.

Her awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship, W. Eugene Smith Grant, Alexia Foundation Grant, Open Society Institute Fellowship, Getty Images Grant, Photoreporter Grant, Alicia Patterson Foundation Fellowship, and three World Press Photo Awards. Padilla is the first recipient of the World Press Photo Award for Long-Term Projects.

Exhibited and published internationally including The New York Times, Le Monde, The Atlantic, Wired, Rolling Stone, Granta, and The New Yorker.

She has spoken and led workshops at Rencontres d’Arles (France), Eddie Adams (New York), Lumix Festival (Germany), DOK (Norway), and is an Adjunct Lecturer at the San Francisco Art Institute.

Padilla’s recent book, Family Love, is based on her award-winning documentary The Julie Project that follows a family for 21-years — an intimate story of poverty, AIDS, and social issues. 

Darcy is a member of Agence Vu in Paris and lives in San Francisco.
