David Galjaard is trained as a photographer at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague (Netherlands) where he graduated in 2006. Since then he has been working as a documentary photographer. In addition to his self-initiated, long-term projects he works as a freelancer for several Dutch newspapers and magazines.
Galjaard’s portraits are shaped by a contemplative and observational approach to people and place. His quiet, balanced compositions emphasise stillness and presence, encouraging viewers to engage in prolonged and reflective looking.
