Photography to me is registering the emotional cues that an image provides me with. It is very much true that after almost 200 years of practice starting with Niepce, photographs from different photographers tend to look more and more similar. The aesthetic of a good image also tends to get epitomized. Still we take photographs and the originality creeps in those images from the ethos we imbibe from being brought up in different milieus. Experiences are unique. Points of view are unique. Emotional atmosphere is unique. So the only way one can be original is by being true to oneself and being true to the images. It makes me a devoted follower of photo vérité.
