Dolores works as a freelance photographer based between Casablanca and Istanbul. As a child of the war years in Yugoslavia, she understood the importance of photography and how a story can be conveyed through a single image. Photography is a way to present a moment to the world.
So far, she has presented her photographic work to the public on multiple occasions at international individual and collective exhibitions, with more than 20 exhibitions held in countries including Brazil, Morocco, England, Spain, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Serbia, and Turkey.
Dolores discovered photography as a child, and over the years, her father's friend, a professional photographer, seeing her talent, introduced Dolores to the technical details of the art of photography in his photo studio.
She graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Malaga in Spain and also studied for a while in Brazil at the Faculty of Law at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Afterwards, she returned to Turkey where she continued her work as a photographer and, in the meantime, earned her Master's degree in International Security. She is a member of the Turkish Photography Organization ( FOTON ).
Dolores Vukanovic's field of work is documentary, social, and street photography, primarily monochrome. She grew up admiring the works of the great Turkish photographer Ara Güler and the war photographer Robert Capa. Dolores focuses on showing to the public with her work the things people don't notice. The neighborhoods people don't visit. The situations people don't see. Through her photographs, she wants to show the city as it is. As a visual anthropologist, she has recorded life in Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Brazil, and Turkey.
In November 2025 she won the third prize for her photo at the Grand Prıx of Photography of the Kingdom of Morocco.During the same period she was awarded with third prize for photograph from Fes at the Maghreb Photography Awards 2025. Besides this, in 2025 her work from Palestine entered the finals at the Paris Photo Awards. On 4th of September 2025 the jury of HIPA selected her photo from Palestine to be among the nominated finalists of the HIPA World Photography Day-United Arab Emirates.
