About Edward Swinden

A former newspaper journalist and winner of awards including the British Journal of Photography’s inaugural “Shoot the Street” competition in 2010, I’ve worked to create striking images and thought-provoking content as an artist since 2004.

Highlights of my photographic life have included one of my images - that of a worker at Jodrell Bank observatory - being used on the front page of The Times (of London) newspaper. My project in honour of England's beekeepers (funded by The National Lottery through Arts Council England) was exhibited widely.

However, I put my artistic career essentially on hold for several years after the birth of my son in 2011 and disappeared from view. I have recently been trying to revive my lifelong passion and interest in Street Photography.

After the pandemic I rented a studio in Stockport, Greater Manchester, and have been producing fortnightly YouTube photography videos from there for over two years.
