Joseph Cheung was born in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia in 1967 and currently residing in Kuala Lumpur. He received his BEng (Hons) from Universiti Putra Malaysia. He is currently working as a Project Engineer in Oil and Gas Industry. He started his photography journey as a hobby when he was 14 year old when he picked up his brother’s compact camera. He won his first ever photography competition in local State’s Inter-school photography in the same year he took up photography. His highest achievement was in 2016 when he was in Top 10 under 'Split Second' category for Sony World Photography Awards in 2016. In the same competition, he also won 2nd place under the National Awards. He has also contributed some of his works for local and international exhibition such as 'World Travel Photo Exhibition' in 2015 held in Underwater World Langkawi, Malaysia, 'Kolektif 1' in 2015, 'World Postcard Exhibition' and 'Orang Malaysia' in 2016, all held at MaTic Galery, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
