KK Ottesen is a photographer and the author of "ACTIVIST: Portraits of Courage" (Chronicle 2019) and "Great Americans," which combine portraits with stories in subjects' own words. She is also a regular contributor to the Washington Post Magazine. Through her work, Ottesen seeks to break down barriers and stereotypes and allow for the discovery of our shared humanity.
