Marzena Wasikowska has worked in Canberra since 1987 and is a PHD candidate in Photography and Media Arts at ANU. She has exhibited both in Australia and overseas. Marzena exhibits both portraiture and landscape photography. Each year she chooses a relevant portrait of the immediate family to summarise the year. Since 2010 the themes of her work are a meditation on the built environment, the most recent work being a contemplation on waterscapes and visualising climate change. She writes of her work ‘This work is a response to our environmental predicament and advances a notion of the Sublime where, as mortals, we stand before nature wondering about what on earth we have unleashed upon ourselves.’
