As far back as I can remember the royal family have been the center piece of British history, they have ruled the United Kingdom and many countries around the world for hundreds of years. Loved and adored by the masses, this hierarchy is an institution in the UK. Wealth, pride, tradition, scandal and history all come to mind when thinking of the royal family.
The fascination with them from the people of the UK and around the world is unwavering, fanatical royal fans that adore these mere mortals some obsessively, longingly or just plan curious. What is it that attracts these people to them?
There is irony in the amount of lower and middle class people that swoon over the royal family, they are very much 'Royalist'.
Do they find the allure of wealth and fame of the highest order a dream they wish to obtain themselves one day? Is it just an excuse to party or for some as simple as a way to flog cheap rip off merchandise.
In the summer of 2018 Prince Harry and American actress Megan Markle married on a hot summers day in Windsor, a reported 1.9 billion viewed it on TV worldwide and 100,000 plus people turned up to catch even the slightest of glimpses of the royal newly weds at Windsor. A royal wedding really is an event that stops the nation.
