Photographer Benny Lam has reached the summit of Lombok Mount Rinjani (3726m) in Indonisia. He truly believed that people acclaim mountaineers' success of mountain summits all over the world. Porters, the hidden heroes behind, are ignored instead.
He thinks that photography has given me a special empathy that drives me to record and care about the feelings of those around me. During the journey to the mountain summit, he came to truly appreciate how respect-deserving our porters are. Living in a capitalistic society, it is easy for us to express our gratitude by giving away money. Yet, He prefer to use photographs as the medium to express my respect for their noble work and the contributions they have made to the mountaineers.
