Open Your Mind - Tread Softly

These images were taken during a recent artist residency on the island of Hrisey, in Northern Iceland. Initially, I wanted to explore Hriseys' reputation as being a highly important source of natural metaphysical energy that you can absorb into your body. I walked all over the island searching for ways to photograph the "energy zone", searching for signs in the natural landscape. The signs started to appear when nature came to me. The snow sparkling over the temple like shape of the children’s climbing frame, a goodbye rainbow from the plane window, or a local greenhouse glowing pink in the winter night. The snow fell heavily one night and a perfect tractor trail appeared overnight outside our house like a frosty crop circle. The skilful u-turn appeared to me like a giant meditative rake though a snowy zen garden.
