Empty Spain

My work is a research for aesthetic abstraction of Spain. I am fascinated by the Castillan countryside and colours, the shapes that human hands draw on the ground as seen from the airplane. These images show the under-populated Spanish regions called 'España vacía' (empty Spain): people living in this region are slowly leaving and moving to the cities, and villages are empty or only the elderly live there. This work shows the loneliness of this region, you can see the human presence but no human being or villages; it also tries to show the struggle of living in these villages as if nothing is changing, while everything around is changing.
