War Graves

All photos are from my photo book "War Graves". My interest in war cemeteries began when I visited an American and a German War Cemetery in Luxembourg. The difference between the designs of the sites is extreme. It affects the visitor and shows how different nations deal with their war dead. In 2016, after I took some photographs of war cemeteries and noticed that editing them in black-in-white had a much stronger effect, I thought about creating a photo book. I want the viewer to look at the photos and not think about to which the war dead belong to, but what horrors they experienced. I don't want the viewer to see a glorious side that was victorious over a second side but to realize that even the villain suffered and was not at all inhuman.
