This is a personal photographic diary lasting about nine months, between november 2016 and july 2017. In December 2016 I was diagnosed with very aggressive non-Hodkin type B lymphoma. The developement classification was 4b, which is the maximum possible, involving extra-nodal locations and severe symptoms. Fortunately, the possibility of blocking this disease with a series of chemotherapy-immunotherapy sessions is good: around 70%. Even the possibility of a complete recovery is good, around 50%. I was lucky, the treatment blocked the tumor in about six months, the cancer started regressing and now, three years after the diagnosis, the periodical checks were always ok. In September 2022 I will have one last check, and if it is ok as well, I will be judged technically cured. I was lucky, first because of all the tumors that could hit me, this has the advantage, unlike others, of being cured, and secondly because my body reacted quickly and positively to the treatment. From the beginning I thought it was important for me to keep a memory of this period, and the photo diary shown here is the result. O-forty-eight is the code that the health service attributes to cancer patients. In Italy, this code allows free use of all necessary treatments and medicines. Thanks therefore to the national health service, to the excellent doctors who treated me and, last but not least, to my family, who was close to me, and to friends and colleagues who followed the events of my illness with great care.
