Nature captivates and expresses time in the form of abstract compositions across its many locations and mediums, such as rockfaces, tree barks, fallen leaves, miscellaneous surfaces and more. They individually and collectively invite imagination and wonderment, beyond beauty alone. It reflects the impact that time has, in the form of even days, weeks, months, seasons, decades and centuries, aided by its inherent forces, such as climate and even chaos, in contributeing to the everlasting concept of weathering. In this submission, weathering acts as a common denominator between the thematic, visual and imaginative essence of compositions that in my opinion, may be viewed as an abstract expression of time. Time, in turn acts an an agent for transformation, a term broadly attributable to life in general, but in this case of the images, a reflection of transiton in nature, impacting on compositions in the form of shapes, textures, colors and more. Albert Einstein stated that imagination is more powerful than knowledge. It has greatly influenced my discoveries of abstract compositions in natural surroundings where wanderment and wonderment in unique liason invoked my imagination in capturing these images. Within these abstract compositions, there exists notable components in the form of the abstract, the mysterious, that fundamentally act as subconcious forces. Nature presents this as a challenge to interpret, very much in the same way that artists grapple with communicating that which lies beyond aesthetics alone. In many cases the abstract expressionist theme refers to the work of the abstract expressionists of the fifties, which has over many years, played a notable role in the discoveries and selections of images that I came across during my "foraging for the sake of art and imagination" outings in nature. The work of artists such as Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, Mark Rothko, Joan Mitchell and more, has greatly inspired my pursuits. The thematic seeds were sown by the impressionists that heralded an awareness towards the environment and in many cases, nature as a backdrop for imaginary compositions. The random execution of the work of these artists, not necessarily theme or specifically topic orientated, resonated to me in a sense that nature's "compositions" represent what it is at at any given moment, or, as time presented it to be. Herein lies some forms of historic mystery, which can be compared with some of the abstract impressionist's interests in the mysterious and the subconscious/unconscious at the time and as some form of reasoning behind the creation of their work at random, but impacting on the unconscious. In my case, this interest has over the years drawn me towards the work of the great Swiss psychiatrist C.J. Jung, who was also the subject of interest of some artists in particular as to the role of the subconscious in dreams that may manifistate itself in real life. Dreams are essentially the canvasses of the imagintion and herein lies the magic, the true meaning in the execution of abstract expressionism as art, in that they may act as conscious dreams being revisited. As the work of the abstract expressionists evoke the imagination of the art lover in viewing their work, so would I hope to invoke the imagintion and the inspiration of viewers of my contribution in celebrating Mother Nature, the Abstract Impressionist of Time. My work is reproduced via a process of high quality archival ink printing on specially selected archival paper and individually signed either as singular prints or as part of a series of more. Sizes vary depending on my choices at the time.
