Navile district is located north of the historical center of Bologna, just beyond the railway station. Great, very ambitious projects existed for the urbanisation of this area in the early years of the last decade. These included the construction of both residential and service buildings and the recovery of old degraded structures for public use. But after a few years from starting, the financial crisis lead the construction company to bankrupcy and the yards stopped. Some are still unfinished today, at the beginning of the 2020 decade. I have recently read that a new company is now interested to finish the job. Works should start again in the forthcoming months, but from previous experience, I am quite cautious in believing this news.
Navile project has been the first case of such a failure in my town. I think the municipality should reflect and question the meaning and implications of this kind of urban development.
