Dreaming on/of Time is a series I hold near and dear to my heart. This series was taken at the beginning and astronomical launch of my spirit journey as a creative. Captured with a vintage Canon AE-1 on 35mm film and 135mm lens, this series shows the acute attention to life and detail we held while shooting our art, experimental film, of the same name, throughout Bolivia.
Our journeys took us 13,000 feet above sea level, where I was stricken with altitude sickness the entirety of the trip to Lake Titicaca, Copacabana - I entered a meditative state, in order to still function as the main actor and co-write/director, and fueled all my energy into maintaining a creative state. Such a formative experience like this brings me to teach other artists in hopes of inspiring them, "You know when they taught you in school, 'Now class, put on your Thinking Caps!'... why ever take it off?"
Comically, the oxygen, sleep, and food deprivation combined with this constant creative state of being and this meditative, trancelike state, I began to download profound spiritual knowledge. Not knowing fully what I was receiving, I transposed such knowledge immediately into the film and kept my eye and camera lens poised for powerful connections. This series is the result of such a state of flow.
I returned home with spiritual learning answering my (and man's in general) questions and quests for happiness: in such a pursuit, there exists ALL the archetypes simultaneously within man, having been souls in the physical many lifetimes before and being connected to the field/Akash where all aspects of life and being are present; in order to find happiness - rather peace - a balance is needed requiring an expression of all aspects of those archetypes of the self, until the self is no more.
Much to his teammates' confusion, they filmed on and were inspired by my state of peace despite having altitude sickness nonstop. Upon our return to Atlanta and recapping immediately with my anthropology mentor, she exclaimed, "I've spent two decades studying that very thing and you learned it in two weeks?!"
Thus, I share the knowledge with you, fellow artists, creators, and beautiful souls.
