IN SEARCH OF LIGHT
“IN SEARCH OF LIGHT” asks important questions about Photography and Environment. How can we bring attention to the BEAUTY of the environment? Can we instead focus on the beauty of nature to inspire awe and respect as a form of Prevention?
The set of Photos in ‘IN SEARCH OF LIGHT’ started as one of those experiments that eventually turned into a series. In 2018, when on shooting in my own city in foggy winters, while observing and photographing the impressive formations and surreal feel of fog during winters, I started thinking about how to show such a magnificent & Surreal World. I always click Candid photographs so, the whole project have Candid photos, nothing is staged because I m not so good in staged shots. How could I present it to the viewer in a Candid, surreal and Unique manner?
The starting idea behind the series was to “give the FOG a visual makeover’’, make it stand out, to bring attention to something we so easily take for granted. I am big fan of documentaries about our planet. I can say that in the past few years, I have been bombarded with information on the negative impact humanity is having on the environment and I become deeply disturbed by how many people are still in denial of this fact. So, I wanted to give something back to the environment, as it has given me so much creative energy and inspiration. Through that motivation, I started capturing different lights to my fog photos. I often feel that project is more of a self-documentation, a reflection of my inner world, and the environment in which I have grown up. There are questions in my mind: Who am I? Why am I doing photography? Did I choose photography, or did it choose me? I hope that this project will take me closer to the answers to all my questions.
“THE FOG WITH LIGHT FELT THE MOST SURREAL FEEL”.
As this is an ongoing series and I am still working on it, I want the viewer to see something familiar in a new light. I want to get them to think about our beautiful environment, which we so many times take for granted. Sparking an idea or a discussion in my intent. But who knows, may be that spark could eventually ignite a flame.
This series doesn’t demand full dedication. It acts as a side projects. A series of photographs I add to when visiting new places. I think I want it to stay free. When I feel the series has matured enough to tell the full and cohesive story, I will possibly present it in or a zine or a booklet, which I want to publish myself. That will give me some closure – a satisfying end to the whole experience. But then again, it might evolve into something completely different in the end. Through “In search Of Light” I wish to realize a better version of myself.
