This project began as a simple photographic exploration of a cattle ranch located in Fort Pierce, Florida.
As I began my tour of the property, I immediately felt a connection that transported me to my memories of childhood summer camp. As I explored the land, I recalled the smell of earth and wood burned, vegetation, colors, scenes, and the horror stories that the elders used to tell us. The place became more and more real, I was living again those days, but this time with the look of many years later, I realized that each one of those elements gave it more and more meaning and form. With those childhood stories I felt imminent fear.
With this series of images, I want to recreate the simple elements of the place, with photographs that invoke my sensations and feelings of those experiences in those mythical and illusory scenarios in a poetic and cinematic way. Although it was not night in the place at the time of capturing these photos, the light was dim, and each element recreated those sensations, transporting me to those horror stories that they told us at camp.
This series leaves the story and the journey to the viewer's imagination.
