AFTER THE ICE series that addresses possible outcomes of CLIMATE CHANGE by digitally manipulating photographs of monuments and emblematic structures in different cities across the world by “flooding” the scene with 200 feet of water, equivalent to the total amount of ice left on the planet.
An important aspect of the work is that it be of “low carbon impact”, which makes purchasing stock images of these churches, government buildings, monuments, bridges and other structures necessary instead of personally traveling to each destination. The series transports the viewer to different coastal cities through enhanced black and white water-scapes containing submerged structures. The intention is to create a realistic and possible scenario through an enhanced, formal, image that plays on metaphor, symbolic architecture, vanishment, science, and contributes to the importance of the awareness of our climate emergency. License for stock images can be provided.
